Save the Lake
- Volen destrossar el parc per posar un Mercat «provisional,» una infraestructura gegantina (no una carpa lleugera) per reubicar menys de 22 parades actualment del Mercat de l’Estrella de Gràcia
- They want to spend more than 6 million euros for something temporary.
- We wouldn’t be able to use the park for about 4 years. Here we have to add extra time to adapt the park and build the provisional market. Therefore, we will lose the park for many, many years and with a very uncertain future. Per tant, perdrem el parc durant molts i molts anys i amb futur molt incert.
We fight every day with the administration and with politicians against the poor management of this project, which has been changed twice and it always ends up in the same location, in the park..
They have refused to locate it in other more suitable places both in the neighborhood and in the market. It seems that they have not thought of the citizens, but of their interest, doing construction and more construction.
This is the pulse of the neighborhood, full of life, where thousands of families, children, grandparents, sportsmen and neighbors use it every day.
We fight for a better future and to be an example for our children. If there is a will, everything is possible. We must fight to denounce injustices, in favor of our rights and the few green spaces we have in the neighborhood.
You can help save the park
We are fighting day to day with the administration, with politicians, denouncing the mismanagement of this project which has changed location twice, but always within the park. amb l’administració, amb els polítics, denunciant la mala gestió d’aquest projecte que ha variat 2 vegades d’ubicació però sempre dins del parc.
What do we want?
- Ensure that the Market is not moved to the Park.
- Defend a space for public and recreational use that cannot have commercial profit.
- Protect the environment, trees and ducks.
- Make the voice of the neighbors heard as an affected party. It was decided without taking them into account at any point. It is imposed on us.
- Demand transparency from the city council: they haven’t presented any of the documents we have a right to see, and haven’t followed all the steps correctly.
- Show the contradictions of the city council. They talk about democracy, citizen participation, ecology, in favor of green spaces and sustainability, but do the opposite.
- Force them to find another better place.
They have been speculating with this project for more than two years. They refuse to locate it in other more suitable and economical spaces both in the neighborhood and in the market. They are not thinking about the citizens, but about their interest in doing works and more works, not very ecological and with a fateful environmental impact.
But now we can do nothing more, we have reached the end of the road: the city council has decided to tender the contract for the construction of the market this past Christmas and to start the works next summer. THE ONLY POSSIBILITY LEFT TO US IS THE LEGAL WAY: hire an expert lawyer, architect and solicitor and go to trial.
Now we need to take legal action and that is why we are launching this campaign.

The cost of the process is roughly estimated to be around €10,000 + VAT. The approximate distribution would be: 10.000€ + IVA.

- lawyer 3,500€
- procurador: 500€
- other administrative expenses: 500€
Now we have to ask for help from everyone who doesn’t want them to build a market that destroys our park.
